David Underwood was born Carter Co., Kentucky December 20, 1840 and died near Prairie City August 11, 1924.

Married Alia E. Pierce on September 16, 1863. Came to Prairie City in 1873.

Leaves his wife and four children - Mrs. W. J. Van Slyk of Elk River, Minnesota, Mrs. Elmer Haynes of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Henry C. of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Grant of Prairie City.

Burial in Waveland Cemetery.
