William Gilbert died November 26, 1886 at Keith County, Kansas. He was thrown out of a wagon, when his horses ran away.

He was the son of S. T. Gilbert, of that place. They were former residents of this place (Prairie City) He was a native of Kentucky, and the eldest of thirteen children.

He was born August 31, 1853. He was a relative of some of our Prairie City folks.
