Wednesday, October 14, 1896Their Baby Gone
Died, at her home, near Galesburg, Oct. 6, 1896, after about a year’s illness, of dropsy, Ollie, babe daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Zwank, aged ten years, six months and sixteen days.
Through all her illness she was patient and uncomplaining and sank quietly to rest in the presence of all her dear ones, trusting in Jesus.
The floral tributes were very nice. At the grave, the mound of earth was strewn with flowers and the grave was lined with snowy whiteness. Loving hands made Ollie’s home in the silent city as beautiful as possible.
One who but yesterday seemed all aglow with life and hope lies cold in death’s embrace. We learn form one who was with this loved one during her last sickness, that she trusted in Him, who said: “I am the resurrection and the life.” May the friends take comfort in God’s holy words. In Ollie's passing away, Mr. Jacob Zwank and family meet with a measureless loss and kind friends have done and are doing all that human sympathy can suggest. But words fail to heal and sympathy does not cure when confronted with an affliction like this, and only in the hope of immortality can the sorrowing ones find consolation. The funeral was held at Mr. Zion, Thursday, Oct. 8; Rev. Doud officiating.
“she was far too pure and holy,
For a sinful world like this:
And the blessed Savior took her
To that land of perfect bliss.”
