Our Prairie City Letter

The funeral of Mr. John Groom, who died in Colfax last week, was held Friday afternoon, in the Disciple church. Rev. Mr. Ames, a former pastor of the church, conducted the services. Mr. Groom had been a teacher, during about fifty years of his life, and left a record of noble work, that will be a more enduring monument than any stone that may be placed at his grave. He died upon his seventy-seventh birthday, thus rounding out a good long life. Many of our older residents speaks of him as a steadfast, noble friend

Mr. Groom, who died last Wednesday afternoon quite suddenly, while sitting in his chair, was aged 77 years, had resided here about two years, and leaves as his nearest relatives two daughters. He was a victim of heart disease.
