OBITUARY – On June 26th, 1894, after an illness of two weeks of typhoid fever, Beatrice, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ohler, passed from this to the “better land.” Had she lived till Aug. 4th she would have reached the age of seventeen. But the cruel reaper Death came and took one of earth’s fairest flowers.

Of “Battie,” as she familiarly known, nothing too good can be said. She never knew an enemy; wherever she went she won the love and admiration of all by her sweet and modest disposition. As she was the only daughter she was the “household idol.” She possessed rare musical abilities, and also promised to become an artist, and used her talent to beautify her home where she will always be missed.

She was an active member of the Christian Sunday School and Mission Band, also of the Epworth League of the M. E. Church. Hardly a day passed during her illness that she did not speak of Sunday school, which was the last place she went till she was transferred to the Sunday school which knows no end. She has gone to meet her brother who departed this life only six weeks ago.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks, pastor of the m. E. Church. Her S. S. class sang two very appropriate songs. The floral tributes were beautiful and numerous and showed how dearly she was loved. Her body was laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery beside her brother. Her grief-stricken parents and brothers have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community.
