Leland Clarence Faidley, age 83, of Prairie City, died of kidney ailment Friday, March 29, 2002 at Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville, Iowa. Sevices were held Tuesday April 2, at Prairie City Christian Church, of which he was a member. Burial was at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

The son of Clarence W. and Vera E. (Clymer) Faidley, he was born October 28, 1918 at Prairie City. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1936. He was a 1936 graduate of Prairie City High School. On May 6, 1944 he married Birdy Beintema. Mr. Faidley lived in Prairie City all his life. He was a retired farmer. He was a Navy Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a 4-H leader and a Mound Prairie Township Trustee. He was a member of the Sugar Grove Grange, and board member of Farmers Co-op Exchange in Prairie City. He was interested in soil conservation.

He is survived by his wife, Birdy; a son Terry of Lebanon, New Jersey; two daughters, Verla Van Scoy of Clinton, Iowa and April Faidley of IndianapolisI, a brother Clarence of Prairie City; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or to the Jasper County Historical Society.
