Vern D. Longren Dies at Hospital; Rites Thursday

Vern David Longren, 51, a life-long resident of Newton, died at 10:55 p.m.Monday at the Skiff Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Toland Funeral Home.

The Rev. Bruce Meyers of the Free Methodist church in Newton, will officiate at the services.

Burial will be in Newton Union cemetery.

Mr. Longren is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vern Longren; four children W. A. (Leila) Forsmark of Manchester, Washington, Mrs. Loren (Delia) Meeks of Newton, Mrs. Harold (Velma) Engle of Baxter and Carroll Longren of Reasnor; and 14 grandchildren

Also surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Asa (Pearl) Galloway of Newton and Mrs. Frank (Edna) Breckenridge of Whittier, California; and two brothers Richard Longren of Newton and William Longren of Lafayette, Ind.

The son of Enoch and Mary Benjamin Longren he was born July 25,1895 at Newton.

Mr. Longren was an emploee of the Maytag company.
