Pearl Galloway Rites are Held; Died Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Asa (Pearl I.) Galloway, 80, of 605 E. 5th St. N., a longtime resident of Newton, were held today at the Wallace Funeral Home. The Rev. Mervin Potter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, conducted services. Burial was in Palo Alto Cemetery.

She died Saturday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital. Memorial contributions to the Skiff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Fund will be accepted.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Lois) Warrick of Newton and Mrs. Gale (Dorothy) Morelock of Pinnacle, N. C.; a stepson, Jack Galloway of Newton; three grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Frank (Edna) Breckenridge of California; and a brother William Longren of of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Louie Hummel, in 1952; second husband Asa Galloway in 1968; two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Galloway was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Mound Prarie Grange.

The daughter of Enoch and Mary Benjamin Longren, she was born May 21, 1899 on a farm southeast of Colfax.

She was married to Louie Hummel Dec 24, 1919 and to Asa Galloway Sept 8, 1956 in Marshalltown.

Mrs. Galloway also had resided for three months at the Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville.
