Albert Brooks, 58, Kellogg Farmer, Dies Wednesday

Albert William Brooks, 58, lifetime resident of the Kellogg area, died Wednesday evening at a Marshalltown hospital.

Mr. Brooks was a farmer living northeast of Kellogg and was a well known breeder of Hereford cattle for the past 10 years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Kellogg with the Rev. Lloyd Dobroth officiating. Johnson Funeral Home will be in charge.

Survivors are his wife, Bertha; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Helen) Timmer, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Gilmore (Frances) Robbins Jr., Kellogg; four sisters, Mrs. Louis Kahle, Kearney, Neb., Mrs. Louis Kling, Newton, and Mrs. John Balmer and Mrs. Edward Ehler, both of Kellogg; two brothers, Michael Brooks, and Ernest Brooks, Kellogg; and five granddaughters.

He married Bertha Koppin March 9, 1921 at Newton. He was educated in Jasper County Schools and Kellogg High School.

The deceased was a charter member of the Grange and was township assessor for 14 years.

Burial will be at Newton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Note: Albert William Brooks was born 16 September 1900, and died 18 February 1959.
