OBITUARY OF MRS. JOHNSON. – Nannie Secrest was born at West Newton, Penn., Feb. 26th, 1854, and died at Newton, Iowa, Dec. 16th, 1893, in the 39th year of her life.

She was married to William H. Johnson, at Indianapolis, Iowa, January 28th, 1889. Mrs. Johnson joined the Methodist Church at the age of 18 years. Four years ago she united with the first Presbyterian church of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Two years ago she united with the Presbyterian church of Newton, where she has since been an active member, both in the church and Young Peoples’ Society of Christian Endeavor.

Her patience and endurance during her illness was but a continuation of the same strength of character, and a fitting end of a noble life. Her faith was beautiful and sublime, her last thoughts being of her loving Savior.

The friends wish us to return their sincere thanks to all who were so kind in their attention in this their hour of affliction, - particularly the physician, nurse, and all who ministered to her wants in her hours of suffering. ~ The Newton Journal, Wednesday, December 20, 1893
