Mrs. Ray Allen Found Dead

Mrs. Ray (Clara) Allen, 68, was found dead in her home just north of Maytag Plant 2 by her husband this morning.

Mr. Allen, who works on the night shift at Skiff Hospital, found his wife when he returned from work this morning.

A long time resident of Newton, Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Hazel) McAllister, now in England with her husband who is in the armed forces; two sons, Leonard Allen, Newton, and Lester Allen, Colfax; and three grandchildren.

Services are pending at Toland Funeral Home until the arrival of Mrs. McAllister from England.

Born to Lena and Coonradt Kracht at Newton Oct 10, 1890, she married Ray E. Allen, March 7, 1912 at Ottumwa. She was a member of Amboy Grange, Armstrong Farm Bureau Club, and H. M. Club.

Burial will be at Newton Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Clara Allen Services Today

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara A. Allen, 68, Newton resident who died last Thursday, were held this afternoon at Toland Funeral Home with the Rev. Gale Baldridge of First Baptist Church officiating.

Pallbearers were Ray Carpenter, Leonard Starrett, Keith Stuart, Lawrence Anderson, Ray Hutchinson, and Charles Starrett. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Lawrence Anderson, Mrs. Gail Rusk, and Mrs. W. W. Schnathorst.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, Ray; one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Hazel) McAllister; two sons, Leonard Allen, Newton, and Lester Allen, Colfax; her mother, Mrs. Charles Koppin, Newton; two brothers, Glen Koppin and Walter Koppin, both of Newton; six sisters, Mrs. Albert (Bertha) Brooks and Mrs. Lloyd (Elsie) Hutchinson, both of Kellogg, Miss Rose Koppin and Mrs. Charles (Esther) Wiedeman, both of Newton, Mrs. Clair (Goldie) Schnell, Lynnville and Mrs. Thomas (Gladys) Birchard, Oregon; and three grandchildren.

Soloist was Mrs. Maurice Rodgers with Mrs. Paul Murdy at the organ. Burial was at Newton Memorial Gardens.
