MERCER, Mo. -- Randy L. Rogers, 52, of Mercer, Mo., formerly of Baxter, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A graveside service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Ashton Cemetery in rural Baxter with the Rev. Jeff Arp officiating. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of David and Opal (Clark) Rogers, he was born Aug. 21, 1953, in Des Moines. He graduated from Baxter High School in 1971. On Dec. 31, 1974, he married Rebecca Johnson in Baxter. He was a truck driver and also worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber for 11 years. He retired in 1984. He grew up in Newton and Baxter and moved to Mercer, Mo., 10 years ago. He enjoyed anything to do with trucks, was very family-oriented and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson.

Survivors include his wife of Lineville; his mother, Opal Rogers of Newton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann and Joe Murphy of Mercer, Mo., and Lisa Rogers of Princeton, Mo.; a grandson; a brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Donna Rogers of Atlanta, Mo.; and six nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.
