Carroll W. Minenga, 79, of Newton died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A private family burial is planned at Newton Union Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Yella W. and Maude DeBruyn Minenga, he was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Galesburg. He lived in rural Galesburg and Reasnor before moving to Newton in 1974. He was united in marriage to Florence Anderson on July 8, 1953, in Missouri. He worked for the Maytag Company for 35 years. He enjoyed Newton Cardinal baseball, listening to the radio and watching television.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Reggie Gray of Newton, Michael and Dawn Minenga of Omaha, Neb., and Stephen and DeDee Minenga of Newton; two daughters, Karla Deppe and Gloria Goeke, both of Grinnell; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 26 step great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Millie and Glen Hubbard of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Florence in 1992; and a brother, Vernon, in infancy.
