Ronald A. "Ron" McFall, 60, of Pleasant Hill and Newton died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A private family graveside service will be in rural Ridgeway, Mo., at a later date. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County and may be sent to Marcia McFall, 617 E. Fourth St. N., Newton 50208.

The son of John J. and Mildred (Wise) McFall, he was born April 13, 1946, in Des Moines. He graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1964 and received a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Iowa State University in Ames.

On Sept. 19, 1972, he married Marcia Lee Pietersma in Newton. He was assistant director of security at Drake University and also worked security at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines during the 1970s.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Pleasant Hill and Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He enjoyed target shooting, motorcycle riding, surfing the internet, spending time with his grandchildren and caring for the family pet.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Chris Taylor of Pella; his father, John J. McFall of Ridgeway, Mo.; two grandchildren; two brothers, James L. McFall of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Michael D. McFall of West Des Moines; a niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
