COLFAX — Dolores Ann (Groff) Benskin, 68, of Colfax died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will be at Metz Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Dolores A. Benskin Memorial Fund.

The daughter of John "Jack" and Rhoda (Brown) Groff, she was born May 4, 1938, in Iowa City. In January 1954, she married Donald Allen. She later divorced and moved to Iowa City. On March 1, 1964, she married Vearl S. Benskin. They lived in Iowa City until his death. She moved to Colfax in March 2005 with her daughter.

She worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for six years as a switchboard operator and Globe Machinery in Des Moines for six years. The majority of her working career, she worked at Hawkeye Food Systems for 23 years, retiring in December of 1997. Following her retirement, she went to work part time at Metro Pavers. She enjoyed crocheting, watching TV, working on her computer and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She enjoyed camping with her husband, daughter and younger brother.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Stevens, and her fiancé, Eric Queen, of Colfax; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; a stepson, Curt Benskin of Iowa City; one step-grandchild; two brothers, Paul Groff of Pennsylvania and Leland Groff of Keota; a sister-in-law, Linda Groff of Wayland; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, both husbands and a brother, Kenneth.
