The funeral services for the late Mrs. Allen Graffis were held this morning at the Christian Church at Galesburg. Interment was made in the Hewitt cemetery. The great crowds of people at the church and the profusion of beautiful flowers sent to the sorrowing family, showed in what esteem she was held by the people of the community in which she lived.

Mrs. Graffis was forty-four years, five months and twenty-four days old at the time of her death. Her maiden name was Lesta Winters and she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Winters, both of whom were pioneers in Jasper county. She leaves besides her husband three daughters and one son, all of who will miss her sadly.

Her death occurred about 7:30 o’clock Wednesday morning. Before he went to his work her husband took her a drink and she said that she wished to sleep a while. Later he glanced in the room and saw that she was lying with her face on both hands. Thinking she was asleep, he went out and did not disturb her. During the morning her mother called and she, too, thought that Mrs. Graffis was asleep, but when the husband went home late in the morning and tried to awaken her, he found that she was dead.

So Mrs. Graffis, who has always lived so peacefully and quietly, left this life just as she had lived it. She has gone to her reward.
