Francis B. "Franie" Froah, 80, of Newton died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at his home.

A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Private family burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service with a coffee time at the funeral home. Memorials in his name to be used for several community projects may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

The son of Charles and Florance (Cherry) Froah, he was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio. He lived in Kellogg for 15 years prior to moving to Newton in 1962. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. On Feb. 14, 1947, he married Doris N. Hutchinson in Kellogg.

He worked at Cline Tool and Service for 23 years and retired in 1988. He was a member of the Newton Sky Kings and R. C. Flying Club and enjoyed woodworking, trout fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife; four sons and daughters-in-law, Carroll and Becky Froah, Dale and Marty Froah, Gary and Eloise Froah and Mark and Kim Froah, all of Newton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles A. Froah of Toledo, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard E. Froah.
