DES MOINES -- Joymac Faust, 81, died, Friday, July 14, 2006.

A funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Burial will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Iles Funeral Homes - Dunn's Chapel in Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church.

The daughter of Harry and Hallie McAllister, she was born Aug. 5, 1924. She spent her childhood in the Creston area. On June 12, 1948, she married Stewart Faust. They made their home in Newton for many years, where she was active in her church (First Lutheran) and many civic organizations. After her husband's death in 1978, she moved to Des Moines.

She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and numerous social organizations. She also volunteered at the Blood Center of Central Iowa for 20 years. Other than her family, her biggest passion was poetry, especially writing poetry.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Diane Faust of Des Moines and Robert and Teresa Faust of Altoona; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister, Helen Bengtson.
