OTTUMWA -- Margaret L. Bisom, 92, of Ottumwa, formerly of Newton, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, in Ottumwa.

A funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Larry Tuttle, retired pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Ottumwa.

The daughter of Charles I. and Mabel R. (McNaught) Butler, she was born July 8, 1913, in Queen City, Mo. She graduated from Queen City High School and attended college in Des Moines for one year. On July 21, 1932, she married Vernon J. Bisom in Bethany, Mo.

For 20 years, she worked at Skiff Medical Center and was a bookkeeper and supervisor of the business office. She retired in 1978. She was past president of the Newton Garden Club and Women's Club. She lived most of her life in Newton, moving to Fort Dodge in 1944 and back to Newton in 1954.

Survivors include a son, John L. Bisom of Juneau, Alaska; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley and Robert Stith of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Connie J. Bisom of Newton and Becky and Rodney Long of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Louis L. Butler; and a sister, Mildred Shroder.
