Loren O. Godwin

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Loren O. Godwin, 69, of Chicago, Ill., a native and former resident of Newton, died Sunday, July 22, in a Chicago hospital.

Funeral services will be held in Chicago.

Survivors are his wife, Evelyn, a son, Thomas, a daughter, Elizabeth, all of Chicago; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Lyle, a sister in infancy and a grandson.

The son of Orville and Gaylie Godwin, he was born Aug. 7, 1920 in Newton.

A graduate of Newton Community High School, he served in the Army during World War II and moved to Chicago after his separation from the service.

He was an employee of the Chicago Tribune production department for several years before his retirement seven years ago.
