Douglas Faircloth

Funeral services for Douglas James Faircloth, 23, of 605 1st St. S., a resident of Newton since 1987, were held Sunday, Dec. 23, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He died Friday afternoon in an automobile accident north of Mingo.

The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Visitation with the family was held Saturday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Tamra; a son, Jeffrey Scott at home; his parents, David and Jane Faircloth of Kellogg; a sister, Kimberly Faircloth of Fort Rucker, Ala.; a brother, Jeremy Faircloth of Kellogg; a step-brother, Jeffrey Faircloth of Cedar Rapids; and his grandparents, Earl and Joyce Faircloth of Kellogg.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Mary Pirtle.

Mr. Faircloth was a member of the Grinnell Eagles Club and the Grinnell Jaycees.

He was employed by Moorehead Construction Co., working in Nevada, and had worked for Sedco Oil Co in Scotland and Grinnell Brown’s Shoe Fit Co.

The son of David and Jane Pirtle Faircloth, he was born Nov. 23, 1967 in Clinton, attended high school in Aberdeen, Scotland, where he was a star member of the basketball team and was chosen to play on Scottish Championship Team, was graduate from the American School in Aberdeen, Scotland, and attended Greensboro, N. C., College.

He was marred to Tamra M. Bingham July 16, 1989 in Grinnell.

He also had lived in Clinton, Ottumwa and in Newton in 1972 and had resided overseas for five years.
