Frank D. Ford

Frank D. Ford, 101, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Thursday morning, Dec. 27, at the Newton Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Reese Chapel.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery at Monroe.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today until time of services.

Memorials to the Newton Care Center activity fund may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two step-daughters, Pearl Taylor of Shell Rock and Fern Proctor of Hampton; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, an infant daughter, four brothers and a sister.

Mr. Ford farmed south of Newton until 1955 and was a custodian at Emerson Hough Elementary School after moving to Newton.

The son of Benjamin and Mary Ritzhaupt Ford, he was born Oct. 15, 1889 on a farm west of Monroe.

He was married to Etha Brown, who died in 1955, in 1917 and to Catherine Ford, who died in 1983, in 1958.
