PRAIRIE CITY -- Helen H. Mayfield Fields, 89, a resident of Clearview Manor in Prairie City since 1981, died Saturday, April 14, at the Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards-Yogensen-Meloan Funeral Home in Manhattan, Kan.

The Rev. Robert Carlson, pastor of the Manhattan, Kan., First Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services. Rebekah services will be conducted by the Manhattan, Kan., Harmony Rebekah Lodge.

Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Riley, Kan.

Memorials to Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association may be sent to the funeral home at 1616 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, Kan. 66502.

Survivors are a son, Lloyd of Newton; a daughter, Winifred Zinn of Topeka, Kan.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edith Zarger of Junction City, Kan., and Virgie Nelson of Leonardville, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sept. 3, 1980.

Mrs. Fields was a member of the Manhattan First Congregation United Church of Christ, was past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the Past Noble Grand Club.

Mrs. Fields, a former teacher, had retired from Manhattan Junior High School cafeteria in 1971.

The daughter of Isaac and Alphratta Butler Mayfield, she was born July 20, 1900 in Riley County, Kan.

She was married to Fred Wallace Fields May 15, 1926 in Riley.
