Former Baxter Teacher Died

Graveside services for Irma Frane, 90, of Perry, who died Jan. 17, 1990, at the Perry Lutheran Home, were held Monday, April 23, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in LeGrand. Memorial services were held January 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Perry.

She was born March 17, 1899 in LeGrand to Guilford Monroe and Callie O-Neal Dimmitt. She attended school in Canada and graduated from high school at Penn Academy in Oskaloosa. In 1924, she graduated from William Penn College.

She taught school until 1929 and returned to teaching in 1936 in southern Iowa. Later she taught at the Washington Township School in Rippey, Fontanell, Palmer and Baxter. She retired in 1966. She had lived in Perry since 1944, and entered a nursing home in 1989.

She was member of the First United Methodist Church and a former UMW officer. She also was a member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union.

Survivors include a daughter, Daphne Jean Frane, East Moline, Ill., and nieces and nephews in Canada.
