MONROE -- Rachel Ford, 89, a longtime resident of Monroe, died today, July 30, at the Pella Community Nursing Home.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is handling arrangements which have not been completed.

MONROE -- Rachel Gladys Snow Ford, 89, a longtime resident of Monroe, died Monday, July 30, at the Pella Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Monroe First Baptist Church.

The Rev. John Adams, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe after noon Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials to the church will be accepted.

Survivors are three daughters, Lorraine (Mrs. Devayne) Honnald of Monroe, Helen Turner of Lexington, Ky., and Arlene (Mrs. Don) Coy of Bounder City, Nev.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Anna Wing of Pella and Lela Sharp of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dewey, a brother, a half-sister, two half-brothers and a great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Ford was a member of the Monroe First Baptist Church and Women’s Relief Corps and was a longtime volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville.

She had owned and operated a Monroe restaurant and had worked in several Monroe restaurants.

The daughter of Alex and Daisy Snow, she was born Sept. 23, 1900 in Sioux City, Mo.

She was married to Dewey Ford July 26, 1919 in Knoxville.
