Birdie E. Ehler

GILMAN -- Birdie E. Stacy Ehler, 83, of Rt. 2, Gilman, a resident of the Barrett Community, north of Kellogg for 57 years, died Sunday morning, March 11, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines following a stroke.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Lyle Johnston, pastor of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Heart Association may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are four sons, Max of Gilman, Richard of Newton and Martin and Henry, both of Kellogg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Francis (Mrs. Theodore) Ung of El Monte, Calif., Bernice (Mrs. Lawrence) Warner of Windsor, Colo., and June C. Bennett of Rosemead, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer, Oct. 23, 1984, a grandson, a granddaughter, a brother, Chester Dean Stacy, and a sister, Thelma Layton.

Mrs. Ehler, a member of the Barrett Homemakers, and her husband had farmed north of Kellogg.

The daughter of William and Trude Savely Stacy, she was born Sept. 17, 1906 in Union Township in Wayne County. She was married to Elmer H. Ehler Sept. 4, 1932 in Newton.
