Sarah E. De Reus

ALTOONA -- Funeral services for Sarah E. Leonard De Reus, 88, of Altoona Manor in Altoona, a longtime former resident of the Mingo-Farrar communities, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the Altoona Regular Baptist Church.

The Rev. Gary Gulan, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Farrar Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation with the family was held Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

She died Friday at the Mercy Skilled Care Center in Des Moines of congestive heart failure.

Survivors are three sons, Clark Geddes of Osceola, John Geddes of Maxwell and James Geddes of Higby, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Joseph W. Leonard of Maxwell, Carl Leonard of Newton and Ralph Leonard of Mingo; and three sisters, Mary J. Leonard and Martha Leonard, both of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Ronald Geddes in July, 1954, second husband, Clarence De Reus, an infant granddaughter and an infant grandson.

Mrs. De Reus, a member of the Farrar United Methodist Church, had been a school teacher and homemaker.

The daughter of Charles Avery and Annie Emmaline Streeter Leonard, she was born Oct. 28, 1901 in rural Collins and attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls for two years.

She was married to Ronald G. Geddes Sept. 5, 1926 in the home of her parents and to Clarence De Reus Oct. 28, 1966
