Lydia Esther Drew

Lydia Esther Drew, 89, of Riverview Care Center, 701 Riverview St., died of a heart ailment Saturday at the center. Services are pending, and burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Mrs. Drew was born in Slater, and had lived in Des Moines most of her life. She was a retired nurse and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Paterno of Ankeny, and JoAnn Beener of Wharton, Texas; a brother, Alvin Marmet of Des Moines; a sister, Edna Orr of Westminster, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
