Graveside rites for Hazel M. Walling Dawson, 94, of 317 E. 22nd St. S., a resident of Newton since 1936, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

She died Tuesday morning at Skiff Medical Center.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Survivors are a son, Francis “Frank” Dawson Jr. of Newton; three grandsons, Glenn F., Terry L. and Craig A Dawson, all of Newton; and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis, June 18, 1974, six brothers and five sisters.

Mrs. Dawson, a homemaker, was a member of the First Christian Church in Waterloo, Neb.

The daughter of Alvin and Christina Walling, she was born Sept. 23, 1895 in Montour and attended Montour schools. She was married to Francis Monroe Dawson Dec.2, 1916 in Carroll.

Mrs. Dawson lived in Jasper County prior to moving to Newton.
