Funeral services for Herbert F. Dorow, 81, of 1200 S. 8th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1950, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Rover Neumann, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church, will conduct services and burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 8 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to Parkinson’s Research may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Dorow died Thursday morning at Skiff Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.

Survivors are his wife, Edith; two step-sons, John Daughtrey on Johnson Island in the southwest Pacific Ocean, and Bill Daughtrey of Toledo, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Aneta (Mrs. Charles) Talbot of Centerville; eight step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Armin, Harold and Norman, all of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters in infancy and an adopted sister.

Mr. Dorow was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a wildlife photographer for many years.

Mr. Dorow was a Maytag Co. employee, in inspection, prior to his retirement in 1972.

The son of John and Alvina Schweim Dorow, he was born Feb. 11, 1909 in Springfield, Minn., and attended Springfield schools.

He was married to Edith Powell Daughtrey July 27, 1956 in the First Baptist Church in Newton.
