Elta P. De Penning

Elta P. De Penning, 94, of Careage of Newton, formerly of Rt. 1, Reasnor, died this morning, Aug. 28, at Careage of Newton after suffering a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Richard P. Walters, retired Christian minister from Johnston, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after noon Wednesday.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First Christian Church may be left at the funeral Home.

Survivors are her husband, Arie, of Careage of Newton; three daughters, Lola Brodersen of Monroe, Eula Mae (Mrs. Kenneth) Dieterich of Newton and Marjorie (Mrs. Larry) Benton of Monroe; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. De Penning, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lloyd, Robert and Earnest Rohrdanz, and two sisters, Daisy Zickel and Lura Van Wyngarden.

Mrs. De Penning, a homemaker, was a member of the First Christian Church.

NEWTON, IA. -- Elta P. DePenning, 94, of Newton died of a heart attack Tuesday at Careage of Newton, where she was a resident. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mrs. DePenning, a homemaker, was born in Galesburg and recently moved to Newton from Reasnor.

She is survived by her husband, Arie; three daughters, Eula Mae Dieterich of Newton and Lola Broderson and Marjorie Benton, both of Monroe; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call after noon today at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
