Lorne W. Deppe

Lorne W. Deppe, 72, of Rt. 2, Kellogg, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Friday evening, Sept. 28, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Lyle Johnson, pastor of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Kellogg United Methodist Church or the Kellogg Historical Society will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Maxine; a son, Rusty of Kellogg; a brother, Maynard Deppe of Kellogg and a sister, Viola Paulson of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Deppe, a farmer, was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, Jasper County Farm Bureau and Kellogg Co-Op and was a former member of the Mariposa and Glendale Granges.

The son of William E. and Wadie Littrell Deppe, he was born Oct. 4, 1917 south of Kellogg and attended Rock Creek Rural School No. 3 and Kellogg High School.

He was married to Maxine Loupee Aug. 19, 1956 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, north of Newton.

KELLOGG, IA. -- Lorne W. Deppe, 72, of Kellogg died of pneumonia Friday at Grinnell General Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with burial at Our Silent City Cemetery here.

Mr. Deppe, a native of the Kellogg area, was a farmer and a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau and the Kellogg Co-op.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine; a son, Rusty; a brother, Maynard, all of Kellogg; and a sister, Viola Paulson of Grinnell.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or the Kellogg Historical Society.
