ALTOONA -- Mabel Pinegar Cochran, 74, of 412 12th Ave. N.W., Altoona, a resident of Newton until moving to Altoona in 1975, died Monday afternoon, March 19, at her home of cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Vince Waltz, pastoral minister of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Also Cemetery in rural Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday and family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are two daughters, Betty Noel of Altoona and Susan (Mrs. Kenneth) Cunningham of Altoona; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis Pinegar of Newton and Raymond Pinegar of Omaha, Neb.; and three sisters, Anna Mae Prussia and Genevieve Mills, both of Newton, and Louise Henline of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, in 1970, a son, Layton, in infancy, three brothers, Earl, George and Harry Pinegar and a sister, Irene.
Mrs. Cochran, a retired nurse’s aide, had worked at Shaw’s Nursing Home and Heritage Manor Care Center.
The daughter of Raymond D. and Anna Kreiger Pinegar, she was born Aug. 10, 1914 in Newton and attended Jasper County rural schools.
She was married to Howard M. Cochran April 20, 1937 in Newton.
