Harold C. Connor

Harold C. Connor, 73, of 409 E. 10th St. N., a resident of Newton for 55 years, died Friday, July 20, at the Des Moines General Hospital of a respiratory ailment.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Resse Chapel.

The Rev. Roy Nelson, retired Lutheran pastor, will conduct services. Burial and a Veterans of Foreign Wars flag presentation will be held at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to a fund in his name will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Vina; a daughter, Becky Jo (Mrs. Carl) Eggermont of Rt. 2, Kellogg; a grandson; and three step-brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three step-brothers.

Mr. Connor was past president of the Newton Saddle Club, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans chapter 20 of Des Moines and a member of Moose Lodge 972 of Newton and the Legion of the Moose.

A supervisor of installation for Diebold Inc. of Canton, Ohio, he was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

The son of James and Deilia Moore Connor, he was born Nov. 22, 1916 in Cedar Rapids and was graduated from Colfax Community High School in 1936.

He was married to Vina Moore April 20, 1941 in Newton.

Mr. Connor was born in Cedar Rapids and lived in Newton for 55 years. He was a retired supervisor for Diebold Inc. and was an Army Air Corps veteran of Work War II. He was a member of Disable American Veterans, Moose Lodge and Legion of the Moose.

Surviving are his wife, Vina; and a daughter, Becky Jo Eggermont of Kellogg.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
