Services Held Oct. 1 For Myra May Cross
Myra Mae Cross, 91, of Mitchellville died of a respiratory ailment Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Mitchell Village Care Center. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, at the Santiago United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with burial at Franklin Cemetery.
Mrs. Cross, a native of the Mitchellville area, was a homemaker.
Survivors are three daughters, Virginia Dyer of Des Moines, Mildred Bogard and Norma Tilghman, both of Colfax; two sisters, Blanche Elarton of Centerville and Ruth Keeler of Des Moines; 32 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Myra May Cross
MITCHELLVILLE -- Funeral services for Myra May Bailey Cross, 91, of Mitchellville, a lifelong resident of the Jasper County area, were held Monday, Oct. 1, at the Santiago United Methodist Church, north of Mitchellville.
The Rev. Ted Hatten, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Franklin Township Cemetery in rural Mitchellville.
She died Saturday morning at the Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville.
Survivors are three daughters, Virginia Dyer of Des Moines and Mildred “Midge” Bogard and Norman Tilghman, both of Colfax; 32 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Blanche Elarton of Centerville and Ruth Keller of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, a daughter, Leota, a sister, Edna, and three brothers, John Lloyd and Enoch.
Mrs. Cross was a member of the Santiago United Methodist Church and an area women’s club.
The daughter of John and Lillie Hague Bailey, she was born Oct. 30, 1898, north of Mitchellville.
She was married to Howard Cross April 26, 1918 and the couple farmed for 40 years in the Jasper County area.
