Mary Lou Carson, 81, of 200 ½ N. 2nd Ave. W., a resident of Newton since 1958, died Monday morning, Sept. 17, at the Skiff Medical Center of cancer.

Cremation followed death.

Private internment of her ashes will be conducted.

Resse Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Surviving are two brothers, Lyle Bobzin of Newton and Donald Bobzin of Flemington, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles, in 1983.

Mrs. Carson, a member of the Ikettes, had owned and operated Carson’s Beauty Salon in Newton until retiring in 1987.

The daughter of Lewis E. and Sadie Edwards Bobzin, she was born Aug. 16, 1909 in Marshalltown and was a 1926 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married to Charles Carson in 1935 in Creston.

Mrs. Carson also had resided in Creston.
