BAXTER -- Emma Luise Holzapfel, 94, of Baxter died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at the Baxter Healthcare Center.

A funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. Burial will follow services in the Bethany Cemetery, Baxter.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to the Bethany United Church of Christ in her name.

The daughter of Karl and Anna Maria (Kalmbach) Hanselmann, she was born March 27, 1912, in Liebelsberg, Germany. She was raised and educated in Germany and married Otto Suffel on Feb. 22, 1935, in Liebelsberg. They were later divorced.

She came to the United States at the age of 49 and was later married to Otto Holzapfel on Feb. 27, 1956, in Newton. She was employed as a housekeeper with the Baxter Nursing Home for many years and was a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ, Women's Club and Garden Club.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Paulette Suffel of Waukee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Erika and Armin Krampe and Gisela and Kurt Brunner, all of Baxter; a brother, Otto Hanselmann of Germany; two sisters, Erika Sichermann and Hilde Wolf, both of Germany; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a great-grandson, two grandsons and 10 siblings.
