Glendoris "Glenny" Hoffmaster, 76, of Newton died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of First United Methodist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or First United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Charles C. and Wanda (Kono) Leahy, she was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Newton. On Oct. 30, 1943, she married Kenneth L. Hoffmaster in Newton and was a homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton, VFW Post 1655 Auxiliary and a former member of MOC Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, gardening, playing cards and coffee clubs. Mrs. Hoffmaster was a lifelong resident of Newton.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth M. Hoffmaster of Houston, Texas; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicki L. Duchene of Newton, Debbie and John Payne and Kim and Ed Mettler, all of Newton; seven grandchildren; nine geat-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dean P. and Joette Leahy of Shreveport, La.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.
