SULLY — Chase Braden Huizer, 21, of Sully, died Friday, April 14, 2006, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

A memorial service was Tuesday at the Third Reformed Church in Pella with the Rev. Jeff Lee officiating. Burial was at Sully Cemetery in Sully. Memorials will be accepted to the Chase B. Huizer Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist teens desiring to attend a Teens Encountering Christ weekend.

The son of Mark and Vicky (Jansen) Huizer, he was born Aug. 8, 1984, in Newton. He graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School in 2003. During high school he was a member of the golf and football teams, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He attended Iowa State University in Ames for one semester studying business, and was working on a business management degree through online courses.

Mr. Huizer worked at Pella Corporation as a facilitator since June 2005. He previously worked on a the Tim and Vernon Vanden Hoek dairy farm. He was baptized at First Reformed Church in Sully. While in high school he attended Teens Encounter Christ retreats. He was an active member of Lynnville Friends Church in Lynnville. He enjoyed working, going out to eat, golfing with his parents, working on automobiles, watching movies, roller blading, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents of Lynnville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tate and Melissa (Dykstra) Huizer of Pella, and Brett Huizer of Lynnville; maternal grandparents, Guy and Janet (Rolffs) Jansen of Pella; his step-great-grandmother, Henrietta Rolffs of Pella; special friend, Sarah Ernst of Pella; two nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hubert and Joyce (Baarda) Huizer.
