Miriam Annette Woods, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness.

There will be no services.

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Memorials may be directed to Indian Creek Nature Center or Hospice of Mercy.

The daughter of William Roay and Henrietta Gertsma Sill, she was born April 12, 1931, in Jasper County. On Feb. 2, 1952, she married Donald Melvin Woods in Des Moines. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed learning and teaching about Iowa's natural history, blue birds and the native prairie. She volunteered at the Pinicon Ridge Learning Center, was an Assistant Commissioner of the Linn Soil and Water Conservation District from 1993-1997. She was also an active volunteer for the district Education Committee for over ten years and volunteered at the Indian Creek Nature Center.

Survivors include a son Don (Jeri); a daughter, Andrea (David) Novak of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sister Darlene Marshall; and a brother, Dean Sill of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Ruth Annette; and a sister, Betty Marie Grandstaff.
