COLFAX — Helen Seieroe, 85, of Colfax died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be held today at Colfax First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m., with burial following at Colfax Cemetery. Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jasper County or Colfax First United Methodist Church.

The daughter of George and Angelina Cope Hunter, she was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Colfax. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1939. In September of 1946, she married Elmer Seieroe at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked at United Food Market, Pratt Clothing & Cleaning and Clearview Manor Nursing Home.

She taught in the rural school from 1939 to 1947. She was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Colfax. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women's Ruth Circle, American Legion Auxiliary and Kiwanis. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, ceramics and traveling.

She is survived by her children, Vernon Seieroe of Longmont, Colo., James (Deb) Seieroe of Colfax, Amy (Shaun) Wilkinson of Seattle, Wash., and Julianne Seieroe of Boulder, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Abe Hunter, Harold Hunter and George H. Hunter; one sister, Ruth Loupee; and one grandchild.
