KELLOGG — Bernard E. Sheets, 77, of Kellogg died March 11, 2006, at his home.

His body was cremated. A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rock Creek Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Grange Camp.

The son of William and Lizzie Kahler Sheets, he was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Fulton County, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy. On May 3, 1952, he married Mary Ann Kasel of Chelsea. He worked for Donaldson Company in Grinnell and later for Maytag Company. He retired in 1990. He enjoyed farming, wood scrolling, playing cards and spending time at his vacation home near Lake Rathbun.

Survivors include two sons, Tim of Nevada and Daniel of rural Kellogg; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, William; four brothers, Donald, Merle (in infancy), Wilbur "Dan" and Larry; and one sister, Wanda Ray.
