Glen F. Perry, 90, of Newton died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at his home in Newton.

A graveside service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton at 12:30 p.m. and travel in procession to the cemetery. The Rev. Howard Vrankin of First Lutheran Church in Newton is officiating.

Visitation is planned Friday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name to the American Cancer Society.

The son of Marshall M. and Enola Parish Perry, he was born Jan. 3, 1916, in rural Baxter. He attended Baxter High School. On Dec. 24, 1948, he married Anna Vodohodsky in Marshalltown. He farmed northwest of Baxter until 1952, then moved to Florida to work at a fishing resort. He returned to Newton in 1955 and worked for Jasper County Road Department for 24 years and retired in 1979. He enjoyed woodworking, making grandfather clocks, working outdoors and enjoyed all nature, animals, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include a step-son, Frank (Rhozena) Taylor of Santa Ynez, Calif.; step-daughter, Nadine Davis of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; several step-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Dutton of Ames; two nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Earl Perry; step-son-in-law, Perry "Bud" Davis; two step-grandchildren; and a nephew.
