LYNNVILLE — Harry D. "Doc" Meredith, 85, of Lynnville and former longtime resident of Searsboro died Monday, April 11, 2006, at his home.

A funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be at Pleasant Township Cemetery at Ewart.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Searsboro Community Church.

The son of Jesse Lowell and Martha Etta (Derunger) Meredith, he was born June 16, 1920, in Sully. He graduated from Searsboro High School and attended college for one year. On Nov. 12, 1955, he married Barbara Jean Thon in Unionville, Mo. He worked for Delongs Sportswear in Grinnell for 44 years. He was a member of Searsboro Community Church. He lived in Searsboro most of his life and moved to Lynnville in 2005.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Bruce Engbers of Sully, Jessann and Mike Johnson of Lynnville and Mitzi and Brad Smith of Searsboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Karen Meredith of Tucson, Ariz., and Michael and Cindy Meredith of Kellogg; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronald and nine brothers and sisters.
