PRAIRIE CITY — Edith L. Jennings, 94, of Prairie City died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Nelson Manor in Newton.

A funeral service was held today at Prairie City United Methodist Church with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City handled arrangements.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa or Prairie City United Methodist Church.

The daughter of John W. and Dora M. (Eggert) Birkenholz, she was born Jan. 4, 1912, in rural Monroe. She became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Prairie City in June of 1936. On June 21, 1933, she married Carl F. Jennings in Nevada. She enjoyed flowers.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, June and Wayne Bell and Karolyn and Merrill Streeter, all of Prairie City; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and seven brothers and sisters.
