Marian C. Hill, 95, of Newton died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Park Centre Health Care in Newton.

A funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at United Presbyterian Church in Newton with the Rev. Donald Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Visitation is planned Friday after 11 a.m. at the church, where the family will be available from noon until 1 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name, to United Presbyterian Church, Alzheimer's Association or Park Centre Foundation.

The daughter of Darwin Orlando and Gertrude Green Clark, she was born Dec. 1, 1910, in Champaign, Ill. She graduated from high school in Monmouth, Ill., with the class of 1927 and later graduated from Monmouth College. On Aug. 30, 1936, she married George Rowland Hill in Monmouth, Ill. She taught biology at Newton Senior High School for 12 years. She was a member of PEO, 20th Century Club Delta Kappa Gamma and Gideon Auxiliary. She also was a member of United Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School and served as a deacon and trustee. She was a Hospice of Jasper County Care Giver.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane E. Oakley and Jim Lammie of Anchorage, Alaska, and Judy (Ray) Miller of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
