Beckie L. Harris, 88, of Newton, formerly of Columbia, Mo., died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at USA Healthcare — Newton.

A funeral service will be at Warren Funeral Chapel, located at 10 N. Fourth in Columbia, Mo. Burial will be at Columbia Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton and Warren Funeral Chapel in Columbia, Mo., are handing arrangements.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Warren Funeral Chapel in Columbia. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Jimmy Robinson and Rebecca Brown, she was born June 25, 1917, in Moscow, Tenn. She lived in Newton since 1994 prior to living in Columbia. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, fishing, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She married LeRoy Harris.

Survivors include four sons, LeRoy Harris Jr. of Newton, Willie Gene Harris of Des Moines, Andrew Harris of Columbia and Franklin L. (Renee) Harris of Des Moines; five daughters, Ophelia J. Harris of Columbia, Vollie Mae Harris of Chicago, Ill., Kathy Ann (Floyd) Johnson of Newton, Carrie L. Carr of Newton and Robert (J.L.) Smith of Kansas City, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carrie Sanders of Columbia; and a sister-in-law, Ella Mae Robinson of Minneapolis, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Wilk James Harris; daughter, Ruth Ann Harris; two grandsons; a great-grandson; a brother, Jimmy Robinson; and three sisters, Hattie, Pearline Mae and Everine.
