Ruth Aladeen Gray, 86, of Newton died Sunday, March 19, 2006, in Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be available. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County.
The daughter of Garfield and Goldie Alverda Fisher Pickett, she was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Unionville, Mo. She attended Putnam County, Mo., schools. On Jan. 22, 1938, she married Robert Lee Gray Sr. in Unionville. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. (Barbara) Gray Jr. of Newton and Carl Eugene Gray of Colo; a daughter, J. Darlene (Marty) Leib of Newton; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a great-grandson; four brothers, Omer, Overton, Chester and Charles Pickett; and two sisters, Amy Pickett and Murl Griggs.
