MONROE — Anna Mae Gildersleeve, 75, of Monroe died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery.

Visitation will take place today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to United Methodist Church, Monroe Senior Housing Building Fund or the Monroe Public Library.

The daughter of Henry John and Marjorie Katherine Tool Brand, she was born April 15, 1930, in Otley. She attended country schools in Marion and Jasper counties and graduated from Monroe High School in 1948. On March 19, 1949, she married Harold Wayne Gildersleeve in Monroe. She attended Tools Chapel and was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. She worked in the accounting department at Maytag following graduation. She was the secretary for the superintendent at Monroe, worked at the Monroe Telephone Company, drawing up easements for underground telephone cable in the area and was a part time city clerk in Monroe. She enjoyed decorating cakes and taught at Area XI Adult Education cake decorating classes in Monroe, Prairie City and the Knoxville area. She served on the board for Monroe Senior Housing, helped deliver meals to shut-ins in the area and later became the site manager for Monroe Congregate Meals.

She is survived by her children, Robert Dave (Michelle) Gildersleeve, Gregory Dean (Sue) Gildersleeve and Debra Jo (Chuck) Routon, all of Monroe; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Louise Roush of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two brothers, Henry (Liz) Brand Jr. of Knoxville and James (Jane) Brand of Monroe; and a special friend, Imogene Daily.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.
