MONTEZUMA — Robert Delk, 70, of Montezuma, formerly of Newton, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell.

A funeral service was held today at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Jim Olson of Zoar Church in rural Newton officiating. Burial was at Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Sterling and Morning E. Gibson Delk, he was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Iowa City. He was a lifelong resident of Newton until 2003, when he moved to Montezuma. He enjoyed country music.

Survivors include three sisters, Lela Young of Kellogg, Rose Anderson of Des Moines and Nancy (Vig) Fuller of Baxter; two brothers, Homer Simpson of Colfax and LeRoy Delk of Newton; an aunt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
